All of It is now completed!

Actually, I handed in the final manuscript in June for my autobiography, ‘All of It – a Memoir of Love, Fear and Art’. So proud of it and the publisher and editor stated that they found it very moving, sincere and ‘brave’. I’m describing it as ‘Monkey Grip meets Eat, Pray, Love’ !

COV_AllOfIt_revisedNow yet another long wait- because of marketing strategies more than anything else, it will be finally released in June 2012. Don’t worry, I’m feeling every bit as impatient to see it on the shelves! Anyway, I’ve attached the cover here (featuring my painting on it called ‘The Long Sunday’. The design team did a great job, I think. Looks pretty sumptuous, doesn’t it? Roll on June (but hopefully a nice summer first!)

Books on the boil

paws hippoWhew, as I wrote in my last blog, I’ve hardly come up for air this year as I’ve added two new books to my list, however, they are important stepping stones in not only my own journey but in the journey I invite my readers to take with me. The first new addition is ‘I LOVE ME-a guide to becoming your own best friend’.

I wrote this because it really is the bottom line in recovery. Unless the relationship with self is a healthy one, it’s unlikely that one’s relationship with others or life in general is going to be balanced. Besides, if a person truly loves and cares for his or her self, they wouldn’t DREAM of scaring their self silly, making their self sad or putting their self down ! (Not sure of the grammar here but it beats the he/she dilemma!) This will come out early in 2010

The one that I’m working on currently is ‘Get Over IT-freeing yourself from the prison of the past’, equally vital because as long as we keep dragging the past into every situation, we will taint every new situation with old hurts and regrets. This book also takes a look at how we get locked into ‘victim’ mode and how to move on. We’ve all made trips to Camp Victim from time to time but it’s a toxic place to stay for more than the shortest visit. This book is probably the most hard-hitting to date but if you’re really ready to get real, this is for you! This will come out mid 2010

Whilst on the subject of ‘getting real’, a book I wrote in collaboration with psychologist Elizabeth Reiger about ten years ago called ‘Get Real’ is to be resurrected in December by popular demand after being taken off the shelves way too prematurely, in my opinion! Using the same cartoon format as my other books, ‘Get Real’ is a self help book on the subject of body image and eating disorders and has been a great resource for counsellors working in these areas as well as for sufferers. All the above books are published/to be published by HarperCollins www.harpercollins.com.au

And finally, if you want to do two good turns at once, go to the Lort Smith Animal Hospital in North Melbourne, www.lortsmith.com rescue a lovely little friend and buy a copy of ‘Paws for Thought- Animal Wisdom for Your Day’, another one of my productions (and a favourite, I confess) and part proceeds go to Lort Smith. This one is published by JoJo Publishing www.jojopublishing.com. The Hippo at the start of this page is from ‘Paws’
